Design for Change

So we felt the need to provide some context for what this podcast is all about. And most importantly, why we're doing it. In the brief conversation that follows, we will reflect a bit on the first three episodes, compare notes on why we felt compelled to take this on, and discuss our future aspirations for the project.

An emergent form of design

Many of us are waking up to the truth that pretty much everything about how we exist — our way of relating to the earth, and to each other — needs to change. And many of us, both inside and outside of the design community, feel a calling to use our skills to help advance this change. It's almost like there's a need for a new kind of designer emerging. So, we have been working on a Podcast in service of this need. Outside In is about the moments that change us. These conversations cover a wide range of experiences in unexpected places — from wilderness treks to VR films, communal festivals to immersive theater. In each episode, we deconstruct an experience with its creator — together, revealing what makes it transformative. The intention is for this podcast to serve as an open-source Design Field Guide for change makers. Through this series, we'll collect strategies, insights and techniques that anyone can apply to build their own experiences that work towards positive change.

Outside In is ad-free and relies entirely on listener support. If you find it valuable, please consider following, rating or reviewing.
